Intragen partnered with Laurea University of Applied Sciences to modernise its identity and access management (IAM) environment, replacing a complex Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) platform with a scalable, automated solution. Operating across six campuses in southern Finland, Laurea supports around 30,000 students and more than 700 staff. With thousands of students onboarded and offboarded each year, identity management is business-critical. The legacy system had become difficult to manage and no longer met operational or technical requirements. Laurea required a modern, ready-made IAM platform with strong built-in capabilities, minimal custom development and an intuitive user portal. Following a competitive tender process, Intragen was selected to implement One Identity Manager, recognised for its technical expertise and strategic approach. The new solution transformed eight critical systems and delivered measurable improvements. Student account activation times were reduced from up to 24 hours to around one hour, and data imports that once took hours now complete in minutes. The platform can onboard up to 5,000 students in a single day and handles biannual peaks in activity with ease. Operational workload has fallen from 70% to 30%, Service Desk effort has reduced by the equivalent of two full-time roles, and licensing costs have been optimised. Delivered through close collaboration and strong technical leadership, the project has provided Laurea with a secure, efficient IAM foundation to support future growth.
